The Lil House Jazz Combo, comprised of seniors Samuel Beal, Michael Orton, Joshua Crain, Adam Ramirez, David Grant, and Aaron Krupinsky (not pictured), performs at Putnam Plaza in downtown Petaluma on a calm Sunday afternoon.
The recent growth for our school’s dynamic music program, which emphasizes concert, choral, and jazz performance, is due in part to the emerge of student-organized jazz combos, small instrumental groups that are usually composed of less than ten musicians who are current section leaders or members of the jazz program on campus. The most experienced and most visible jazz combo that currently rehearses and performs for the public is known as the Lil House Jazz Combo, a play on words derived from campus slogan “The Big House.” The small ensemble was formed with the intention of performing jazz standards at varying venues around downtown Petaluma, collecting donations from any individuals who wish to contribute.
