Axel Perales

Axel Perales has committed to Santa Clara University as a computer science major in hopes of pursuing a career as a software engineer.

Perales is an active member of many clubs on campus: he is a member of the Tech Club and helped build the club’s float for the 2019 Butter and Eggs Day Parade; he is a member of the Computer Science Coding Club and learns how to code; and he is a member of the National Honors Society club, which is a nationwide organization for high school students that demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Perales is also proud of the time he has dedicated to serving the community which mostly revolves around technology. He has adored and started using computers since he was two years old — he wants to help people embrace technology the way he does. Perales has volunteered at the local television channel — Petaluma Community Access — where he helped edit segments they recorded and also helped as a cameraman for certain events. Perales is most proud of his work with a recording of the 2015 Veterans Day Parade since it took days of editing to make the video of the hour-long parade look clean and perfect.

Perales also helped the community by organizing and doing a project where his friends and he collected old computers, refurbished them, installed the newest Windows update, and then donated them to people in need for work and/or school purposes. They donated to many recipients who ranged from low-income individuals to schools in need to victims of the Sonoma County fires.
