Coffee Companies Roll Out The Holidays

As Halloween moves out and the world prepares for the end of the year, many look past the fall celebrations and right into the holiday cheer.

As Halloween moves out and the world prepares for the end of the year, many look past the fall celebrations and right into the holiday cheer. From Starbucks advertising their holiday drinks in commercials on November 1st to Michael’s putting everything related to fall on clearance, I know I’m not the only one who is ready to get in the holiday spirit before Thanksgiving. I wait for the big push to start celebrating winter and the holidays by the end of summertime!

Since the drinks have already hit the shops, I decided to give Starbucks and Dutch Bros a try to see what all the rave is about. In terms of Starbucks, their holiday lineup includes the Caramel Brulee Latte, Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, and the fan-favorite Peppermint Mocha, a typical hot mocha with added peppermint flavors and topping. Opting for the Peppermint Mocha, it tasted like a normal mocha with a slightly minty flavor, but, for the most part, it was just your average hot mocha.  As someone who does not frequently purchase hot drinks, I did not care for Starbucks Peppermint Mocha.

At Dutch Bros Coffee, they have created not only hot holiday drinks but also cold specials. I have tried their Candy Cane Cold Brew and Snowberry Rebel. The Candy Cane Cold Brew is a mocha version of their regular cold brew with soft top whipped cream and candy cane sprinkles. While it is a typical coffee drink, the cold brew mixed with the chocolate milk lessens the plain coffee taste. Their Soft Top, which is similar to a foamy whipped cream, is so delicious. Altogether, this choice makes for a nice cold holiday coffee. The Snowberry Rebel is a Blackberry Rebel with a soft top and blue sugar sprinkles. The Rebel drink is Dutch Bros’ unique energy drink, which comes iced or blended. Both drinks have satisfied my holiday drink tastings, though I wish Starbucks would have a better variety of cold holiday drink so that I would be able to try more options.

With all of these companies arranging for these holidays as if they were normal, one might expect fewer customers due to COVID-19. It seems like most people are not shopping in stores as much but are still getting out to get their coffee fix. All in all, the holidays have arrived, whether you like it or not, so you might as well dive in and get into the holiday spirit these companies sure have!
