Gaucho Sports Now – Release 4 (2022-2023)

Boys Basketball

The boys basketball team is beloved by many students at Casa Grande, and this year, there has been a new and noteworthy addition: Coach Fahy has joined the team after having worked for Casa for quite some time now. The team has a score of 1-1 at the moment. The first game, the Gauchos unfortunately lost to San Marin on Nov. 26, but redeemed themselves at the Dec. 6 match against Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park. It was a very close game, with a score of 52-49. Despite their best efforts, however, the Cougars had nothing on the Gauchos.

Girls Soccer

The Casa Grande girls varsity soccer team is just getting started with their preseason and will begin to play league games after winter break. Coach Vinnie Cortezzo is the coach for the team. With more than twenty girls on the team, the girls have to fight for their spot as there are eleven spots on the field. It’s looking good for the girls varsity soccer team this year. Go Lady Gauchos!

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team is a popular sport at Casa Grande and many players are excited to see they have made the team with Coach Jordan Schlaut. Even though the soccer team has had only one game this season, they defeated their opponents in Windsor with a score of 1-0. We’re looking forward to our Gauchos defeating many more schools to come.

Girls Basketball

The ladies on the girls basketball team have been crushing their opponents; the team has a score of 4-2 right now. The games our ladies have lost have been close scores and the games they have won, the ladies have absolutely dominated the other teams. The team is currently coached by Scott Himes, who has been a member of Casa Grande for about 3 years now. When talking to the girls, they wanted to highlight their Captains Avery King and Jamie Mcgaughey, who have been leading them into victories.

Wrestling

Also starting off their season strong is the wrestling team. Many Gauchos take pride in wrestling at Casa Grande. Raymond Wang, star wrestler of the team, has had a passion for the sport for many years and has a special talent of inverting his belly button. This season will be a great one for the Gauchos!
