Lets Brunch! Some of the best brunch sports here in Petaluma

Many families spend quality time by going out to eat with each other and that includes my family. Every weekend on Sunday, my family and I go to a new brunch spot, whether that be in town or nearby towns like Cotati. Over time, I’ve racked up a few favorite spots that have become my go-to usuals. Here they are.

Sax’s Joint is a popular 50s-style diner where everything you see may be from checkerboard decor to photos of famous actors in the 50s and 60s. The waitresses wear themed attire, as well with a red or black bandana in their hair with signature red lipstick and winged eyeliner for an appealing look. Sax’s Joint has a large selection of amazing food an assortment of different plates from breakfast items like hashes and French toast and even lunch items like wraps and sandwiches. When I go to Sax’s, my usual order is one of their homemade cookies and cream cinnamon rolls with a side of bacon and eggs. A fan favorite is their cinnamon roll pancakes where they have the cinnamon filling inside with a cream cheese frosting on top.

Mr. Mom’s is a classic favorite of Petaluma locals and has been open for almost 30 years. It is targeted towards truck drivers, and it has both a giant parking lot and early opening hours, starting service at 5 am. If you’re looking for a classic American breakfast, this is the place to go, as they have both low prices and big portions. You will always be greeted with a smile from your waitress. My favorite plate is the linguica and eggs which has all the fixings with potatoes and toast

Henny Penny is an affordable place with a variety of options. It is a great place to head to for breakfast and can be found near the Petaluma Golf Center next to two famous chicken sculptures. During the pandemic, Henny Penny stayed open, and you may have seen the chickens with masks on. Their business is still booming. Even as a high schooler, you can order from the kid’s menu, so my go-to is a smiley face pancake with eggs and bacon, which hits the spot every time.

Even though we have an amazing assortment of brunch and breakfast spots here in town, these are the top three for my family and I highly recommend checking them out. Even if there is a wait, it is worth it!
