Woody Smith: Physics and physical science

My last school was actually La Tercera Elementary, where I was working with the whole school, because their science coordinator went on maternity leave … I decided to step in and teach science [at my son’s school] …  I think it’s good for all teachers to look at [if you would] be happy if your child was in the same class that you were teaching … you want everyone to feel as though they are as loved as your own child … Once I got here, I started talking to students, I started speaking to staff and I started to realize this school is not like my previous school, this school is an amazing school … whenever you’re working with the students, you realize you don’t have to be the smartest person, you don’t have to know everything because you end up figuring out a lot of things together … I have to give the opportunities for my students to make discoveries and find the joy of doing something that you normally wouldn’t do by yourself.
