Gaucho Sports Now – Release #2 (2023-2024)

With the fall season nearly at a close, several sports teams at Casa Grande are concluding their seasons after months of work. However, there are still several exciting games coming up, including the Vine Valley tournament and Egg Bowl, a town favorite and tradition which is coming up on October 28th. In the meanwhile, let’s hear about the adventures that the athletes of the Big House have had in the past few weeks!

Football
Football is one of the many sports our Gauchos take pride in at Casa Grande. But, with it coming to an end for many of the 2024 graduates, players are planning to make it the best season yet. The football team has been on a roll, winning their last 4 games and absolutely dominating each opponent they take on. The last game that was played at Big House was against Justin Sienna, but the Gauchos dominated with an overall score of 59-0. When talking to seniors about their last year playing for Casa Grande, Zach Herrera mentioned, “I have appreciated the coaches throughout the seasons and have had a fun time playing for the past two years.”

Volleyball
Casa Grande’s volleyball team has also had a great group of Gauchos on the roster this year. While the season started off with a losing streak, the players have not let it get them down. The girls hope to end it against Vintage High School on the 12th of October. But, for these athletes, it is all about having fun, with Marissa Brody saying, “It has been a really fun year, and having my best friends to play with has been great.”

Girl’s Golf
The girl’s golf team is also wrapping up their season, with their final game having been on October 11th. They finished off their season with a win against Sonoma High School at Rooster Run Golf Course and a score of 311-335. While this team has had its ups and downs, they always tried to leave the golf green with a positive attitude, regardless of whether it was a win or a loss. The team only had one senior this year, which was Rona Hansen, a 3-year returning player. The team plans to play in the first VVAL game of the season on October 16 at Foxtail Golf Course, and Casa Grande hopes to see the team off in victory.
