In-N-Out’s service is outstanding, and the workers are able to keep calm even with so many orders from so many customers.
What makes In-N-Out so special is that they make their own “spin” on the options of toppings they can put on their burgers and fries. “Animal Style” adds extra pickles, grilled onions, and their own sauce, called “spread.” “Spread” is a secret sauce but appears to be a mix of mayonnaise, ketchup and pickle relish. On fries, ordering “Animal Style” adds cheese along with spread and grilled onions.
When ordering from Petaluma’s In-N-Out, I noticed a crowd of people there, yet the workers responded, not by rushing but just quickly. I was able to see into the kitchen, and was reminded how they always cut their potatoes fresh, right before they fry them. I ordered a regular cheeseburger, “Animal Style,” but without tomatoes or raw onions. I also got “Animal Style” fries.
The restaurant chain offers choices of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry milkshakes, which includes being able to mix any two or even all three flavors to get a “Neapolitan” flavored milkshake. They are tasty, but they are a little thick right when they come out, which makes it impossible to drink for a few minutes with the small straws.
I got my food in about 15 minutes, and despite the large crowd of people there, I somehow managed to still find a place to sit with my friend. The tables were clean, as were the chairs, which were also fun because they spin. As soon as I picked up my burger I noticed that it looked delicious, and it smelled even better. It was perfectly warm, and the lettuce was fresh and crunchy. As I finished, I did notice how it got a little soggy at the bottom, but if you eat it fast, this isn’t really a problem. The burgers also come half-way wrapped in paper and another paper covering outside of it, so the juice doesn’t leak everywhere.
I have always disliked In-N-Out’s fries, but ordering them “Animal Style” always makes them better. In my experience, the fries are usually not crispy and are pretty dry. The bad doesn’t outweigh the good though. In-N-Out has a little bar at most locations where you can find ketchup and cascabella peppers. You can also get separate packets of ketchup or spread if you ask. Personally, I like the “Spread.” It tastes like all the good flavors of a burger all mixed together. In-N-Out has a signature pink lemonade including a lite pink lemonade which is the same but with less sugar. Their lemonade is full of flavor, and it is not too sweet and not too sour. I prefer the regular lemonade, but if you want less sugar, the lite lemonade is probably the best choice, and it tastes mostly the same.
If you are looking for a simple, good quality burger, I highly suggest In-N-Out. With burgers, fries and milkshakes, In-N-Out has everything a good fast food restaurant needs.
