In today’s coffee culture, there are two main coffee shops that stand out throughout the United States: Starbucks and Dutch Bros. Starbucks has been a highly successful company with an iconic logo that everyone knows. Dutch Bros has broken onto the scene in more recent years, giving Starbucks a strong competitor among a great deal of younger customers. Starbucks has been known for its cozy-sit down cafe, while Dutch Bros is known for speed and energy. Both Starbucks and Dutch Bros have such unique drinks to choose from, with great interactions from the workers.

There are a wide variety of drinks that come from Starbucks. The most popular drinks that people seem to typically order from there are iced coffee or refreshers. Starbucks has many drinks and food to choose from. We conducted interviews with Casa students for their opinions, asking them, “Dutch Bros or Starbucks?” and “What’s your order?” and “Why?” Surprisingly, there were similar answers throughout. Junior Adam Mercado chose Dutch Bros. “I chose dutch bros because they have fruity drinks.” Mercado orders a Palm Beach Rebel and says that it’s his favorite. Junior Cesar Ruiz also chose Dutch Bros. He says, “They have different drinks at Dutch Bros.” Ruiz shared that he enjoys a blended mango passionfruit with soft top. Dutch Bros definitely has many fans at Casa due to their fun drinks that many people enjoy.
However, many Casa students and staff members prefer Starbucks. Senior Carver Pacheco said that “Starbucks has better food options, so it is definitely my go to.” Teacher Chris Weaver shared that “Starbucks has better food and drinks, and they are also a lot closer with more locations.” Dutch Bros is definitely really popular, but don’t count Starbucks out, because they have some supporters, too.
Both of these coffee shops are respectable in their remarks. Dutch Bros has broken onto the scene with their famous Red Bull infusions, while Starbucks has shown good competition with their Strawberry Acai Refresher. In the end, both these coffee brands have great followings by their regular customers, but when you decide which shop to go to, it really comes down to your personal preference.
