I was always going to buy MLB The Show 26, after having a couple down years the game came back to life last year. San Diego Studios started adding better content, and with players like me, we hoped it would continue. I’ve explored most of the game modes, so let’s talk about them.
Franchise:
This game mode is probably the least popular, although they have upgraded this game mode this year. Now when you send a trade to the other team, you have to wait a couple of days within the game before you get a response. San Diego Studios also added the option to trade up to eight players, and finally they added if you don’t want a player traded, you can list them as untouchable.
Road to the Show:
This game mode has improved a lot over the years. It used to be that you immediately went into the MLB draft and you would get drafted, then you would start in AA, and you would gradually move your way up to the MLB. However, in the last couple of years, it has changed where you play a couple of games in high school, then you either go to the draft combine or go to college, then you skip your college career and get drafted. This year though, after your couple of games in high school, you can play your junior and senior year college playoffs. After that you get drafted, start at AA and gradually make it to the MLB.
Diamond Dynasty:
This game mode is probably the most important mode for MLB The Show because it’s where a lot of players spend most of their time. After struggling for a couple of years, Diamond Dynasty bounced back last year when they got rid of the unpopular Seasons mechanic. This meant that there were different card series within a season, and you had to use cards based on the certain season the game was on. However, MLB The Show got rid of that mode and the game was great besides it being a little collection heavy. For collections, you have to collect certain cards from certain series, and if you do you get a really good player. It can be hard to collect all the cards though. This mode is great, because you get to build your own team by completing programs and collections.
MLB The Show 26 is better than ever, and I can’t wait to play some more of it.
