The 2023 girls’ soccer season was an absolute accomplishment for both the JV and varsity teams.

The JV team had an overall undefeated season. The girls worked extremely hard during practices and games to defend and score goals.

An attacking midfielder on the JV team named Dakota Long says, “It was a great season and Coach Maggie really inspired me to do my best.” Long scored many goals throughout the season and was a key player that was essential for Casa Grande JV’s multiple wins.

Casa Grande’s Varsity team had a remarkable season. They also were undefeated during the entirety of their season. On Friday, February 24th, 2023, the girls competed against Maria Carrillo High School in the final round of NCS, which is a majority of the year, in Northern California high schools. The Lady Gaucho’s significant win led them to play in the first round of State Championships.

On Tuesday, February 28th, 2023, the Lady Gauchos played Sacramento in the first round of their state championships. They won with a challenging score of 2-1. This proceeded into the next round.

The girl’s final game was on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023. The girls fought their hearts out to attempt yet another win, but fate was against them. They played Branson, a school with lots of funding and multiple stellar athletes. The Gauchos stepped up with pride and tried their best, but Branson won out in a heart-wrenching defeat.

Still, the Gauchos gave it their all this year and certainly showed. The juniors on the team looks forward to playing again next year.
