Chris Knight took the challenge of becoming Casa’s new principal administrator after years of teaching in schools. He wants to build extraordinary connections with the community of Casa and be part of it. Knight has had previous experiences in schools as a teacher, teaching multiple classes and always trying to be unique. He is very familiar with the town and nearby places since he attended Santa Rosa High School and U.C. Davis for college.
Knight is very specialized in teaching, as he earned a master’s degree in education. But after a while of teaching, he decided to take a new challenge in a new place, a place that was so new to him. Despite being familiar with the area, at the beginning he thought: “I don’t know what I don’t know” – a paradox that all may find familiar. However, he was able to overcome these problems by building relationships with his co-workers and students in order to adapt better here at Casa.
Knight explains that being a Casa administrator is a very difficult task, since he has to move around the school and work even after school hours. But, he also said that a busy job is one of the best opportunities one can have because it’s not boring and time flies by the majority of days. Everyday there is new stuff to do. He can be seen around campus monitoring and keeping the community stable, watching out for students and taking care of messes.
Although Knight might only be seen as one more adult who works in the school, he is still just like us in terms of the activities we do throughout the day. Some of these activities are taking his dog, Frankie, for walks every morning. He also works on the fences of his house to make sure they are secured, and he goes fishing and biking with his friends every now and then.
When he was younger, during his high school and middle school years, he had many people that inspired him to be who he is now, one of them being his dad. His dad was a hard working and honest man who provided him what he needed. He also had another inspiration, one of his history teachers in middle school, a person who always tried to make his class unique and memorable for the students he describes. Also, Knight was very active at Santa Rosa High School, he was on the cross country and track team, he says that it was a great experience and recommends everyone to join a sport because a lot of friends can be made there.
These experiences have led him to be a great, social, and personable person that always tries to show his best side. Knight is the type of person that you could talk to for hours and not get bored, the type of person who always tries to find solutions for everything, the type of person who gets work done no matter what, the type of person one can look up to.
