Lemos is a teacher known for being very connected with his classes. This is his first year teaching an auto class, and he teaches at both Casa Grande and Petaluma High School. Although this is his first year teaching the auto class, Mr. Lemos has taught for more than 10 years prior in RSP at Petaluma High, Kenilworth, and St. Vincent De Paul, and has been subbing for the district from 2021-2025.
After 2 weeks of teaching his students about tires in a more traditional manner, Mr. Lemos gets a garage setup to let them do it by hand. Kids are set into big groups to handle tires unattached to 2 cars. One group is testing their wheel, its unnecessary wobbling shows they forgot to tighten it, while the other group’s machines are making intense beeping sounds as they lower a black Mercedes. Despite the loud drilling sounds of tools, and the students loudly discussing what to do, Lemos is keeping up with the rest of the class and making sure they know what they are doing.
When you hear Mr. Lemos teach, it is obvious he is immensely passionate about teaching his students, being described as a very outgoing and loving person. Mr. Lemos’s main goals for teaching are to “be able to teach my students life skills as society changes.” Lemos teaches for both Casa Grande and Petaluma to ensure that kids that want to take automotive classes can have the opportunity! Mr Lemos loves finding ways to make his students learn in new creative ways, saying “I enjoy teaching teenagers, they are able to have a lot of experience in a short time.”
Mr. Lemos attended Petaluma High School growing up, having a strong interest in history, later majoring in it. He mentioned a science teacher in Petaluma high school he had growing up, Mr. Eiserich, for being an influence to him “Mr. Eiserich had a unique way of teaching the class.”
Lemos’s higher education consisted of getting an AA at the Junior College and a bachelor at Sonoma, with initial credentials at Dominican. Being asked later about history, he stated his favorite part to learn about is the Industrial Revolution, later saying that if he wasn’t an auto shop teacher, he’d teach history.
In his free time, Lemos loves to work on cars and motorcycles. He also has a love for racing and an interest for camping, too. Growing up, Lemos had played football as a center and nose tackle. Being asked what type of music he’s into, Mr. Lemos stated he’s a fan of ska, punk, and metal, with Metallica being his favorite thrash metal bands. Mr. Lemos says that so far his experience at Casa Grande has been great! Getting asked about the “six seven” jokes that have been a recent trend across Casa, Lemos said that he hadn’t heard them and hadn’t known what the phrase had meant. Mr Lemos’ hopes for the future regard his hopes for being able to contribute to the automotive programs at school to build, and allowing it to grow.
As a new automotive teacher this year with such a strong love and passion, Mr. Lemos is going to be a great driving force to the class and is very excited to teach auto classes at Casa Grande, with hopes of gearing the automotive programs forward!
