The uprising artist Laufey released her newest album “A Matter of Time” in August of 2025, which climbed the charts and left everyone in awe of her work. “Laufey is in her lover girl era, being in love with an amazing person, the kind that makes ourhearts beat faster and makes us feel sick of loving so much — in the best way possible,” posted a student named Camille on “Her Campus” at Casper Libero, Brazil.
On August 22, 2025, the countdown ended, and Laufey dropped her new album. “A Matter of Time” was a knock out of the park with her long-awaited release of new songs. People have sat on the edge of their seats since the beginning of 2025, when Laufey announced the drop of her newest album, so fans waited on her album for eight months.
This album gives an air of jazz and musical theatre. Some of her newest songs are “Clock Work,” “Lover Girl,” “Silver Lining,” and many more that showcase her romantic and jazzy style of music and the musical art style she gives off as a “Lover Girl.”
Laufey was asked in an interview by Time Magazine about the way she was styling her album and the songs. She stated her feelings on the album and exactly why she made it the way it was: “I wanted to take this idea of beauty that’s often around my music and throw it in the fire a little bit, just for the sake of showing the complexity of female emotion… of my emotion,” she said. “I think it’s my most daunting project yet.”
Laufey was raised with musical discipline in her home. Her mother, a violinist, and her grandparents, music professors at China’s Central Conservatory of Music, allowed her to grow up surrounded by musical talent. She and her twin sister practiced piano and the cello in her home. She is very musically inclined and was very musically disciplined throughout her life, given her family history.
During her interview with Time, she was asked why she had made her album so personal. Laufey stated that she had the confidence to do so and that she also fell in love for the first time, and that’s what the album is all about. Her music is very romantic and can connect with the chaos and feelings that come with being in love with someone.
Of course, not all of her songs are about romance and love. She wrote the song “Letter To My 13 Year Old Self” to show every young woman that no matter what happens, everything will be okay. This is meant to inspire young women all over the world.
She’s made friends with other artists along her musical run, and she reaches out when she needs help or just someone to rant to. She’s worked with Clair (or, Clario, her stage name) on her song “Mr. Eclectic,” which is on Laufey’s album. She also likes to chat with Olivia Rodrigo and Conan Grey. She says she enjoys talking to Olivia because she’s a balanced and a kind person but when she needs someone to rant to about something that’s happened, it’s always Conan. This can happen when she misses someone or someplace.

For her album, she wrote “Forget-me-Not” as a tribute to her homeland of Iceland. She told Time that she wrote it as a love letter to her home and as an apology for leaving to chase her dreams. She’d been away for seven years and she felt like she was almost in a long distance relationship with her homeland.
Casa Grande junior Richard Ventura said, “From all the songs in the album my top three favorite songs are ‘Tough Luck,’ ‘Lover Girl,’ and ‘Mr Eclectic,’ because they are all just so whimsical and are music to my ears, literally.” In addition, he expressed his endearment for the album and his enjoyment of the music in the album that Laufey has created.
Everyone who listens to it has enjoyed her music. Fans from all over the world adore her musical talent. She is loved by peers, other artists, fans, and by her beloved sister. Her mixture of jazz, pop, and classical music is one for the times. Her vibrant personality and style add more to who she is as an artist. “A Matter of Time” is all about love and the feelings that come with falling in love. Have a seat, a warm cup of tea, and settle into her gentle music. Her enchanting music can be fit for everyone, young and old.
