Initially, the replacement of the 54-year-old cowboy-themed Cattlemens Steakhouse left the people of Petaluma distraught. Many people in Petaluma saw it as a staple restaurant in the town. But then came the new Chick-Fil-A, at 5012 Petaluma Boulevard North. The new store opened on December 4th of 2025, and though fans of Cattlemens seem disappointed with its closing, the overall consensus seems to be that people are happy with the newest Chick-Fil-A.
The restaurant had a very exciting opening day. Repeating their Cows Eat Free tradition, Chick-Fil-A welcomes everyone on their opening day by giving free food with an option of entrées or a kid’s meal to anyone dressed as a cow.
Despite the restaurant only being recently opened, the latest Chick-Fil-A has already been well-received for its positive impact on the community. As a celebration, Chick-Fil-A made a $25,000 donation to support hunger relief at Redwood Empire Food Bank, a food bank based in Sonoma County. In addition, Chick-Fil-A is also going to support the Chick-Fil-A Shared Table program, which attempts to give surpluses of food to local nonprofits and organizations. With the introduction of the new restaurant, Chick-Fil-A created approximately 70 new jobs for the community, exciting Petaluma with new job opportunities.
According to the company’s website, expansion for the company has been unexpected, even with growth for Chick-Fil-A reaching a plateau, with rates below 10% for the first time since 2013. Despite this, Chick-Fil-A is now the third largest fast food company in the U.S. Petaluma’s Chick-Fil-A is accompanied by 27 others across the Bay Area. The newest local restaurant is owned by Chris Cannon, who believes a lot in the Chick-Fil-A core beliefs. On the website, he shares, “When I started as a Team Member in 2009, it was clear to me that Chick-fil-A was more than a restaurant; it was a place that positively influenced lives and impacted communities.”
Ever since Chick-Fil-A’s opening in Petaluma, the Casa Grande students have been loving it, with Chick-Fil-A being frequently visited during lunch and after school. Casa seniors have good things to say about it. Leo Carreno says, “Yeah, I liked the New Chick-Fil-A. I had a chicken sandwich with fries and an Oreo Shake.” Evan Ortiz said, “The new Chick-Fil-A is like the same as the others. I had the chicken nuggets.” Ibeth Rivera had “chicken tenders, four piece, Diet Sunjoy, with some fries.” Meanwhile, Yazmin Paxtor Marquez had “a Spicy Chicken Sandwich Deluxe with a Diet Coke.”
Though Petaluma is disappointed at the closing of Cattleman’s Steakhouse, it seems that Chick-Fil-A is a great alternative for Casa students. The overall consensus is to give the new Chick-Fil-A a try!
